Dr. Sumiko Hamilton-Hervey
Hello Students, I am Dr. Sumiko Hamilton-Hervey "The Special Education Guru" as I like to call myself. I have over 25 years of experience in special education specializing in areas such as behaviors, autism, and physical and mental disabilities. I am a proud graduate of the University of Houston where I obtained my Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership specializing in Special Populations.
Why is this course important?
When working with children with disabilities whether it is a child with autism or a child with behavioral issues the #1 question I always get from parents is "Why does my child do those behaviors here but at home they do these things? Or why is it that the behaviors are worst at home and not at school?
This course will give research-based literature to help you understand the WHY and then provide research-based strategies to use to help your child generalize positive behaviors across settings.
